Finding Refuge at Greenlee Lough
This assignment was challenging as it was my first design within a large scale landscape, and much of the area was protected for conservation and historical purposes. Within the brief we were also asked to specify a large scale planting intervention in keeping with the landscape.

With my design I incorporated themes related to the environment of Greenlee Lough, nearby historical monuments, and referencing the dark skies for which the Northumberland National Park is renowned. I was mindful of the environmental impact of placing a structure adjacent to an SSSI and within my green roof I was careful to specify planting found within the native Whin Sill grassland species.

For my planting intervention I chose to design a sustainable woodland, using coniferous crop amongst native deciduous trees.
