Leeds East Moor Reformatory for Boys - A Green Community
In this module we were encouraged to consider the sustainable use of finite resources and explore the creation of distinctive places for communities to live, work and play. We evaluated a current planning application for the Adel Reformatory site and explored other sustainable developments such as the award winning CITU project.

In my design for the site I included solar panels for sustainability and for drainage I incorporated decorative swales and permeable surfaces. I also included several elements within my design to encouraging a sense of community.

One of the biggest challenges for this assignment was the constraints imposed on the use of space by the position of a listed quadrangle complex at the heart of the site. Placement of new housing and green space had to work around this existing structure.
